Loraine Masiya Mponela is a mother, writer, community organiser and migrants rights campaigner. She is originally from Malawi. She moved to the UK in 2008 and now lives in Coventry. She is the current chair for Coventry Asylum and Refugee Action Group (CARAG) ( https://www.carag.co.uk ).Because of community work by CARAG, Loraine has been recognised as ‘Everyday Hero’ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-55172264 and modern day Lady Godiva https://coventry2021.co.uk/explore/modern-day-lady-godivas/ by Coventry city of culture 2021.
She also sits on the Board for several migrants and refugee charities in the UK. Loraine has a lovely son, Comfort.
