West-Midlands born, London-raised of South Asian heritage, broadcaster, actor and writer Mim Shaikh is best known for his supporting role in the BBC One crime drama series Informer. He made his screen debut in the 2014 short film Daytimer directed by Riz Ahmed and later starred in the 2016 short Shia Sunni which won a BAFTA Children’s Award and landed Mim the leading role in the British comedy horror film Freehold.
Outside of his acting roles, Mim has built a significant reputation as a broadcaster thanks to his shows on BBC 1XTRA and the BBC Asian Network. In 2018, he also released his debut documentary Finding Dad which followed Mim on his search for his biological father in Pakistan. He also starred in series 14 of Celebrity Masterchef in 2019 and participated in the BBC Two show Pilgrimage: The Road to Istanbul. Mim also runs a popular YouTube channel where he performs his spoken word poetry.
