British support of Zionist settlement

@shado.mag

Did you know that the foundations of the ‘Israeli state’ were laid with Britain’s support, during British colonial control of Palestine? Today, we see Israel being sustained by imperial powers, especially the United States. But this imperial support of Israel started before the State of Israel was even created, and actually dates back to the early days of the Zionist movement. Back then, the main imperial force bolstering the Zionist movement was Britain. So how did Britain specifically facilitate the creation of the State of Israel? In our latest collaboration with Makan we explore how a pre-Nakba history demonstrates how since its inception, Zionism has been intertwined with imperialism. Without imperialism, the Israeli state would have never materialised as it relied on Britain to facilitate the intensive settler-colonial processes that started decades before 1948. In another video, we’ll talk about how Palestinians have been resisting Zionism since before the Nakba. Follow to watch more!
